The Preterite Tense for regular verbs DO NOW: conjugate verb, create a sentence, translate sentence to preterite . VIDEO: reteach. Until yesterday we have learned what? – present okay great.. So then yesterday we learned about what? – preterite– great! …. When do we use the preterite– can anyone give me an example in english where the preterite would be used? – EX: EX: okay great! Yes, I would use the preterite when describing something that has happened to me once or twice: such as : My senior year of high school I made honor roll. --- did you make honor roll every year? No--- examples of things that happened once. ---NO give me a NON- Example: when I was a kid every Sunday I went to church with my grandma. Okay good– now create T chart- pretertite on one side and imperfect on the other. Put english examples on there. Make them write down: two minutes make a sentence on their own in ENGLISH a sentence where they would use preterite, use imperferct and one that would use both. Now: give them the endings for the imperfect ar and er/ir verbs. THEN Do wave vs. sharp x. --- when I was younger I was walking with my mom and I fell. – okay based off this image and sentcene tell me when would you use the imperfect and when would you use the preterite. To Conjugate Reg. AR Verbs HABLAR – AR = HABL hablé hablamos hablaste habló hablaron Note: THERE ARE accents on BOTH the “YO” and the “él” form to differentiate between present and past tense.

Stem Changes * AR and ER verbs DO NOT have stem changes in the preterite. Only IR verbs that have a stem change in the present tense, EX:…dormir; Have stem changes from ou dormí dormimos dormiste durmió durmieron
