GO! “GO” verbs GO!

Why are some verbs called “go” verbs? In the present tense, some verbs have unique conjugations. The verbs that are called “go” verbs follow a unique pattern in the YO form only. In most cases, the rest of the forms are regular.

Which verbs are so affected? tener = to have tener que = to have to tener hambre = to be hungry tener sed = to be thirsty tener sueño = to be sleepy tener años = to be __ years old hacer = to do/make hacer la maleta = to pack a suitcase hacer un viaje = to take a trip

More “go” verbs traer = to bring oír = to hear salir = to leave venir = to come poner = to put poner la mesa = to set the table poner la televisión = to turn on the t.v.
