Red Ribbon Week October 24-28, 2016 October 20th is National Writing Day Essay/Poem: Students will be encouraged to participate in writing a poem/essay that has an Anti-Drug message. Essays Due Tuesday, October 25, 2016. Carved Pumpkin Contest Due on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 Door Decorating Contest (inside) – Doors will be judged on Thursday, October 27, 2016. Can Drive – the class who collects the most cans will win a pizza party. Final Pick up will be on Friday, October 28, 2016. (Half Day PreK will have an a.m. and p.m. pick up).

Red Ribbon at Myrtle Cooper Oct. 24-28, 2016 Dear Parents: Monday: “Be a JEAN-ious” Students and staff will wear all jean attire to show that they are too smart for bullies and drugs. Begin brainstorming on how to carve your pumpkin! Pumpkins Due Wednesday.   Tuesday : “I’d Be Crazy To Do Drugs” Students and staff may wear crazy socks and hair. Next week we will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week. Please encourage your children to participate in the school-wide activities throughout the week. The theme will be “One School One Goal-Bully and Drug Free” Can Drive Carved Pumpkin Contest Essay/Poem Contest Door Decorating Essay/Poem Contest Due Today: During class, students will be encouraged to write a poem/essay with an Anti-Drug message. Wednesday: “We Can Walk Away and Stomp Out Bullies and Drugs” Students and staff will wear mismatched shoes. Carve Drugs and Bullying out of School! Students will bring a carved pumpkin from home. Get creative! Please make sure your child’s name and your phone number is on the pumpkin. Pumpkins will be judged and returned on Friday. Thursday : Friday: “Team Up Against Bullies and Drugs” Students will wear any team jersey to show their commitment to team up against Bullies and drugs. Classroom doors will be judged. Prizes will be as follows: 1st place – Ice Cream Party and Free Dress 2nd place – Popcorn Party and Free Dress 3rd place – Free dress   “I pledge to be Bully and Drug Free” Everyone is encouraged to wear RED from head to toe. Final Can Pick Up – Winning Class will be announced today. The class with the most cans will win a pizza party. Cans will be donated to families in our community.

Semana de Liston Rojo contra las Drogas octubre 24-28, 2016 Queridos Padres, Myrtle Cooper celebrará la semana de Listón Rojo la próxima semana. El Tema será “ Una Escuela, Una Meta - Libre de drogas e intimidación” Colecta de comida enlatada Concurso de esculpir una calabaza Ensayo/Poema anti-drogas Decoración de Puertas lunes: “Ser un Genio” Los estudiantes deberán vestir de mezclilla para demonstrar que ellos son muy inteligentes en no usar drogas. Empieza a pensar en como vas a esculpir tu calabaza y traerla en miercoles! martes: “Usar drogas es una locura” Los estudiantes podrán usar calcetines y cabello ‘alocado.’ .   Los alumnos escribiran un ensayo o poema en clase, con un mensaje antidrogas. miércoles: “Vamos a Estampar a las Drogas y la Intimidación” Los alumnos usaran diferentes zapatos en cada pie. Concurso de esculpir una calabaza. Esculpir la calabaza en casa y entregarla hoy. El viernes se elegira la calabaza ganadora. jueves: ” Un equipo junto gana contra la droga y la intimidación” Los estudiantes traerán una camiseta de su equipo favorito para demonstrar que juntos le ganamos a las drogas. Hoy se anunciará cual salón de clases ganó la competencia de decoración de puertas.   viernes: “Día de vestir de rojo” Los estudiantes traerán vestuario de color rojo para representar que van a vivir una vida sin la droga” Hoy será el ultimo día para traer comida enlatada que se donará a familias de nuestra comunidad. La clase con el mayor numero de latas, ganará un “pizza party.”
