Usos del imperfecto Ongoing, habitual actions in the past. (Without definite reference to when they started or ended.) To tell what time it was in the past. Descriptions of people, places and conditions in past.
Imperfect vs. Preterite - ongoing actions over longer periods of time or conditions (physical or personality) in past, w/out focusing on their beginning or ending. Preterite: - an action or series of actions completed in past, with definite reference to their start and finish.
Ejemplos Comparativos Pablo salió para la tienda a las tres ayer. Pablo salía a la tienda con amigos cuando era jóven. Yo comí un taco el sábado pasado. Yo comía un taco todos los sábados.
Imperfecto y Pretérito Together Imperfect- to describe action that was going on (already in progress) in background. ***WAVE Preterite- to describe main event that interrupted the ongoing action. ***LIGHTNING
