Preterito vs Imperfecto! . .
Imperfect Rules:
Imperfecto: 1. To describe people, places or events in the past. El era muy gordo. Mi abuelo tenía pelo negro.
Imperfeto: 2. To express the time, date, or age in the past. Eran las ocho de la mañana. Era el 8 de enero. Cuando tenía ocho años yo cantaba mucho.
3. To set the stage or scene in the past. Imperfecto: 3. To set the stage or scene in the past. Era un día bueno y perfecto. Había una vez cuando no existía la SIDA.
Imperfecto: 4. To express a regular, habitual, repeated action Cuando era niño, yo leía todos los días. Cuando tenía 10 años, estudiaba mucho.
Imperfecto: 5. To express something continuous (action as it’s happening) Cuando el bebé gritaba, yo cantaba. Mientras mi mamá estaba cocinando, ella limpiaba los platos.
Imperfecto: 6. Emotions, feelings, or states of mind in the past. Ayer, yo estaba muy feliz. Yo tenía mucha sed.
