¿Cuándo Comen en México? Mealtimes: El desayuno 7:00 - 7:30 El almuerzo 11:00 – 12:00 Snack (La Merienda) La comida 2:00 - 3:00 Big Meal of Day (La Comida Grande) La cena 7:00 – 9:00

El Desayuno Chilaquiles – fried corn tortillas cut up with salsa or mole on top. Eggs and sometimes chicken are added and it has cheese or sour cream on top. Usually served with refried beans. Quesadillas Burritos Zucaritas con Tigre Toño Chocolate Caliente

El Almuerzo (una merienda) Enchilada Fruta … mango, papaya, sandía, fresas Jícama – the root of the jícama plant. Tastes sweet and starchy, similar to apples or raw green beans. Typically eaten raw with salt, lemon or lime juice and chili powder. Added to soups and other hot dishes. Used to dip in salsa as an alternative to tortilla chips or on top of salads.

La Comida Enchiladas Mole Poblano – made with dried chili peppers, ground nuts/seeds, spices, chocolate, salt, avocado leaves, onions and garlic. Mole Verde – similar to poblano, but gets its green color from the toasted pumpkin seeds that form the sauce's base. As well as using ingredients such as Romaine Lettuce, cilantro and tomatillos. Tamales – wrapped in corn husks or plantain leaves and steamed. Filled with corn dough (masa), meat, cheese and spiced chilies. Tacos – Tacos al Pastor is most popular type. Made with pork, spiced chili peppers, spices and herbs.

La Cena Tacos Quesadillas Taquitos – small rolled up corn tortilla filled with beef or chicken and fried. Flautas are very similar, but made with flour tortillas. Sopes – small circle of fried masa (corn meal) soaked in lime is the base. Topped with refried beans, cheese, onions, red/green salsa and sour cream. Pork and chicken can be used too.
