Britton’s and Hillerman’s BREAKING NEWSletter August 21st-August 25th ELA:  We are starting Unit 2, visualizing poetry and fiction. Our texts this week are Seal and Cherries and Cherry Pits. We will begin our nonfiction unit in writing. Vocabulary: Swerve: “change directions quickly, usually to avoid something.” Flick: “move or make something move, with a quick, sudden movement.” Speedy: fast Utter: “say something or make some sort of sound.” Whoop: “shout from excitement.” Plop: “sit down heavily or put something down heavily. Math: 3.NBT.2-Adding within 1,000 using various strategies Subtraction within 1,000 using various strategies 3.OA.9-Addition Properties 3.NBT.1-Round 2 digit numbers to the 10s and 100s place Reminders: Field Trip Money & Permission slip due August 29! Class T-shirt money due September 1st. Field Trip-Thursday, September 7th Peanut-free snacks/lunches need to be sent each day. Your child may also purchase a snack from the school (snacks are 50 cents each). I can statements: I can tell time to the last minute and calculate intervals of time. I can visualize from a passage. I can ask and answer questions about a passage. I can reread for information. I can recognize a pronoun. Test Dates: Math: Independent Skills Assessment Friday Addition, Subtraction, and Rounding Assessment September 1st ELA: Spelling Assessment on Friday Be sure to encourage your child to read each night.
