In Spanish speaking countries, kissing on the cheek is a common way to greet friends and family members. This is especially common in a non-business setting. Most Americans like their "personal space" when greeting one another, however Spaniards and Latin Americans tend to give one or two kisses on the cheek, sometimes accompanied by a handshake or hug.
