Giving Explanations Bueno, es que… Well, it’s just that…

Iba a asistir, pero no pude. “iba” is the imperfect tense, which we will learn in Chapter 7. “Iba a” means, “I was going to”. Pude: Preterite of poder: pude I pudimos pudiste I XX pudo I pudieron This needs to be added to your preterite packet!

Práctica 1. I was going to walk the dog, but I couldn’t. Iba a caminar con el perro, pero no pude.

2. My brother and I were going to go to the movies, but we couldn’t. Mi hermano y yo íbamos a ir al cine, pero no pudimos.

Doler (o>ue stem changing verb) This is a verb that works like gustar, with an indirect object pronoun: There are two forms that you will use in the present tense: Duele (if one thing hurts): Me duele la cabeza. Duelen (if more than one thing hurts): Me duelen las piernas. Use an indirect object pronoun: Me I te Te I X Le I les
