* Verbs that end in –car, -gar, -zar change only in the YO form -CAR (c-qu) -GAR(g-gu) -ZAR(z-c) Ejemplos: Tocar- Toqué Jugar- Jugué Almorzar-Almorcé
* Verbs ending in –ir (shoe verbs) have the stem change only in the él and ellos form (e-i or o-u). Ejemplos: DormirPedir dormídormimospedípedimos dormistedormisteispedistepedisteis durmiódurmieronpidiópidieron
*In the preterite dar takes –er and –ir endings. Dar- di, diste, dio, dimos, disteis, dieron Ver- vi, viste, vio, vimos, visteis, vieron
*Verbs ending in –aer, -eer, -uir, and the verb oír have a spelling change in the preterite. In the él and ellos form, the i changes to a y.
