 IF THE MAIN VERB IS FOLLOWED BY “QUE”, YOU HAVE TO DECIDE BETWEEN PRESENT SUBJUNCTIVE AND PRESENT INDICATIVE.  THE SUBJUNCTIVE IS ONLY AN OPTION IF THE VERB BEFORE QUE IS A UWEIRDO VERB.  IF THE VERB BEFORE QUE IS NOT A UWEIRDO VERB, USE THE PRESENT INDICATIVE.

SUBJUNTIVO  Espero que no TENGAMOS tarea esta noche.  Mi madre insiste en que yo ESTUDIE todos los días.  Es importante que yo HAGA la tarea. INDICATIVO  ES CIERTO QUE TENEMOS TAREA ESTA NOCHE.  MI MADRE SABE QUE YO ESTUDIO.  ES VERDAD QUE YO HAGO LA TAREA.
