Se can do many things in a sentence. Takes the place of an indirect object. Accompanies a reflexive verb. Signals unintended action. Expresses an impersonal subject. Constructs the passive voice.

Se can do many things in a sentence. Le presto mi libro a Sara. Se lo presto. Sara se levanta temprano. Hoy se le olvidaron los libros. Se debe hablar en español en la clase. Se escriben libros muy malos. Indirect object reflexive unintended impersonal passive voice

Se can do many things in a sentence. I lend my book to Sara. I lend it to her. Sara gets (herself) up early. Today she forgot her books. One should speak Spanish in class. Very bad books are written.

UNINTENDED ACTION SE LE a Sara olvidaron los libros The speaker intends the object (el libro) to be the focus of attention (not Sara!) The verb agrees with the subject! Not sus because its self-evident that these are Saras books!

hablar IMPERSONAL SUBJECT debe SE en español en la clase In English, the subject can be one or people. Verb is always SINGULAR.

Libros muy malos PASSIVE VOICE Verb can be PLURAL. SE escriben Use this se pasivo to avoid the English passive voice (books are written = libros son escritos).

We're going to wake up Sara. She fell asleep doing her homework. This boring book was assigned by her Spanish teacher. People need a lot of time to learn a language. I left my book behind, so now I think I'll use hers. I'll return it to her tomorrow. She'll never find out. Books are stolen from the library all the time. Traduce: ¡Cuidado! No todas las oraciones usan "se".

Vamos a despertar a Sara. Se quedó dormida haciendo la tarea. Este libro aburrido lo asignó su maestra de español. Se necesita mucho tiempo para aprender una lengua. A mí se me quedó mi libro, así que ahora pienso usar el suyo. Se lo devolveré mañana. Ella nunca se enterará. Los libros de la biblioteca se los roban todo el tiempo. ¿Puedes explicar qué uso tiene el "se" en cada ejemplo?
