Realidades 1 – Cap. 5A Using “de” to show possession

Showing Possession De means “of” or “from” In Spanish there are NO apostrophes. You cannot say, for example, Jorge’s dog, (using an apostrophe)

Showing Posession You must say, “The dog of Jorge,” only in Spanish. Like this: El perro de Jorge.

De + noun This concept of showing possession is using “de + noun.” For example:

El libro de Juana = The book of Juana. Complete 1-5 on your paper and then we will review.

De + Noun 1. Maria’s book = El libro de María 2. Roberto’s brother = El hermano de Roberto 3. Elena’s (male) cousin = El primo de Elena
