Bautizos Baptism CEIP SAN ROQUE – TOLOX (MÁLAGA)

Antiguamente se bautizaban el 100% por la Iglesia Católica. Hoy en día lo hace un 40%. Formerly 100% of children were baptized by the catholic church. Nowadays about a 40%.

Se vestía al bebé con las mejores ropas, preferentemente de blanco simbolizando la pureza. Se pensaba que si no era bautizado y fallecía no podría ir al cielo y era considerado “infiel”. Babieswere dressed with the best clothes. They were dressed in white as a symbol of purrity. It is thought that babies who were not baptized din not go to the heaven.

Se realiza una fiesta religiosa en la Iglesia con una posterior celebración con los familiares y amigos. After the religious ceremony, family and friends make a celebration.

A los padrinos se les encomendaba la tarea de educar en la fe cristiana a los bautizados en caso de que faltasen sus padres. Tradicionalmente suelen ser los abuelos o familiares muy cercanos. Parents and Godparents are the responsibles for Christian education. Usually, grandparents are the Godparents.

Durante la celebración eclesiástica se le pone el nombre elegido por sus padres y se le echa agua bendita, ritual por el cual entra a formar parte de la Iglesia. La ropa que lleva suele pertenecer a los antepasados de la familia. In the mass a name is given to the baby. He is thow with Holy water. Oficially, the child belongs to the church.

Desde siempre a la salida de la Iglesia, los padrinos echan monedas al aire y los niños presentes las recogen como un regalo. Tradicionalmente se les canta: “padrino lagarto eche usted los cuartos” Traditionally, when the mass is finished, Godparent thrown coins and children take them as a present. A traditional song is sung.

La familia lo celebraba con los familiares más cercanos y le entregaban regalos al niño o niña recién bautizado. At the end, everybody goes to a restaurant to celebrate it. Present are given to the baptized.
