This week our class will focus on the different ways people can find needed information. We will also be exploring stories and riddles that ask us to seek answers. Comprehension: Compare and Contrast/Similies and Metaphors You and your child can compare and contrast similar activities, noting the specific traits that are alike and those that are different. Here are some activities you can do with your child to help reinforce the skills we’ll be practicing. Words to Know: Definitions and Restatements Let’s use the list words to make up a short story. I’ll start with a sentence that uses one of the words, and I’ll write the sentence on a piece of paper. Then you continue the story using at least one more of the list words. You’ll write your sentence after mine. We’ll continue until we have completed the story and used all of the words. Consults, unsure, expectations, presence, consideration, reveal, circumstances, destiny Spelling/Phonics: Plural Nouns I’m going to tell you the singular form of each list word. You will use the plural form of the word in a sentence. Then you will spell the list word. Students should read only chapter books as part of our AR program. All correct and returns must be signed and in the blue tub by Monday, Oct 12 th to receive credit.
