SABER SABER means to know. 1. We use SABER to talk about knowing facts or information. 2. Knowing how to do something.

SABER ¿ Sabes dónde está Juan? ¿ Saben Uds. qui é n fue a la fiesta ayer? Sabemos que ellos sacaron buenas notas.

SABER Saber followed by an infinitive means “to know how.” Yo sé jugar al fútbol. ¿Sabe él tocar la guitarra?

CONOCER Conocer means “to know” 1. in the sense of being acquainted or familiar with a person, place, or thing 2. to meet someone for the first time.

CONOCER (To Know) yo conozco tú conoces Ud. él conoce ella Nosotros conocemos Vosotros conocéis Uds. ellos conocen ellas

The Verb CONOCER Remember the personal “a”? Conozco a María Teresa. Conoces a ellas? Sí las conozco. Conozco Madrid. Why is it not used above?

The Verb CONOCER Conocer is followed by the personal a when the direct object is a person. Direct object pronouns can also be used with conocer.

The Verb CONOCER ¿Conocen Uds. a la señora que trabaja en el laboratorio? Si, la conocemos bien. ¿Quieres conocerla?
