2 In Spanish all nouns belong to one of two genders: Masculine and Feminine Masculine nouns usually end in “o” and feminine nouns usually end in “a”. Singular nouns name one of something. Plural nouns name more than one of something. We will talk more about singular vs plural nouns another time.

3 DEFINITE ARTICLES All nouns have a definite article. The four definite articles mean “the”. They have different forms that agree with their noun in gender (masculine/feminine) and number (singular/plural).
