4 The direct object answers the question "what?" or "whom?" with regard to what the subject of the sentence is doing.

5 Ms. Pfeiffer reads the book. What does Ms. Pfeiffer read? I write the song. What do I write? We drink Jarritos. What do we drink? They buy the bread. What do they buy? The children wash the dishes. What do they wash?

9 The direct object pronoun goes before the verb. When you use it you do not have to use the direct object. Miguel tiene el paraguas. Miguel lo tiene el paraguas. Miguel lo tiene. Miguel has it (the umbrella).
