STARTER: How do you say today’s date in Spanish? ¿Qué te gusta hacer en tu tiempo libre? Objetivo: Conjugar los verbos ‘jugar’ y ‘practicar’ - Describir lo que haces en tu tiempo libre

2 Verbs In the dictionary you will find them in the ‘infinitive’ form. This means ‘to ...’ Infinitives have three endings in Spanish ar er ir Today we are going to look at ar verbs.

3 Conjugation To use a verb, you must conjugate it.
This means, you have to change it to express who is doing the action. In English, we say he does, she goes, i play, you sing. The first part tells us who. In Spanish, we change the ending of the verb to represent who is doing the action.

In Spanish there are 6 endings... - I We - You (plural Spain) - You You (plural) - He/She/It - They If you can use these in your exams you will get a higher mark.

7 Jugar Jugar is not a regular verb.
This means, it changes slightly when we conjugate it.

38 ¡Cuidado! To get a C grade or higher in the GCSE oral
examination you MUST give opinions and justify them. Eg. I like to go to the cinema (opinion) because it’s interesting and fun (justification). Use today’s work and the sheet ‘Essential Vocabulary’ to get into the habit- it will make life easier for you in your exam!
