3 VERBS n A verb usually names the action in a sentence. n We call the verb that ends in –ar/ -er/ -ir the INFINITIVE

4 VERBS n The INFINITIVE is the form you would find in a Spanish dictionary. n In English it means n “to + (verb)”

5 These are some INFINITIVES you already know: n Enseñar n Estudiar n Hablar n Bailar n Cantar n Dibujar n Escuchar n Esquiar n Montar n Nadar n Pasar tiempo n Patinar n Textear n And several more!

6 STEM / ENDING n For every INFINITIVE in Spanish there is a STEM and an ENDING.

9 IN SPANISH: n To change an INFINITIVE to a form that tells who is doing the action, remove the -ar and add the appropriate ending.

10 IN SPANISH: n This action is called CONJUGATION

11 IN SPANISH: n The last letter or letters of the verb tell you who does the action.

12 STEM / ENDING n For example, for “estudiar,”…”estudi” is the stem. n “ar” is the ending.

24 NEGATING A SENTENCE n When you want to say that you do not do something, use no before the verb form
