Tú commands are used to give a command to someone you are familiar with. To form the affirmative tú command of regular verbs, just use the él/ella/Ud. form in the present tense. Trabajar Comer Escribir Trabaja Come Escribe

Irregular Verbs Some verbs are irregulars in the tu command form. They must be memorized. They are: pon tener decir salir venir hacer ser ir poner ten di sal ven haz sé ve Pon la cuchara en la mesa. Ven conmigo a la fiesta! Put the spoon on the table. Come to the party with me!

If you use a direct object pronoun with an affirmative command, attach the pronoun to the command. Josefina, hazlo ahora mismo! When a pronoun is added to a command of two or more syllables, a written accent mark is needed over the stressed vowel. Martin, ayúdame. Example: Josefina, do it now! Martin, help me.

Traducir 1. Eat your lunch. 2. Mix the ingredients. 3. Chop up the vegetables. 4. Set the table for dinner. 5. Add the sugar to the cream (la crema). Come tu almuerzo! Mezcla los ingredientes. Pica las verduras (los vegetales). Pon la mesa para la cena. Añade el azúcar a la crema.

Negative commands are used to tell someone what NOT to do. To form the negative tú command: 1. Take the “yo” 2. Drop the “o” 3. Add the opposite ending: -es for –ar verbs -as for –er, -ir verbs Trabajar Comer Escribir No trabajes No comas No escribas

Some verbs have completely irregular negative tu commands. They must be memorized. They are: no des estar ir ser dar no estés no vayas no seas

Remember that pronouns are attached to affirmative commands. Example: Josefina, hazlo ahora mismo! With negative commands, pronouns always go right before the conjugated verb. - Pico los tomates también? - No, no los piques.

Traducir 1. Don’t fry the chicken in the pan. 2. Don’t put oil and vinegar in the salad. 3. Don’t go to the supermarket now. 4. Don’t turn off the stove. 5. Don’t give me the ingredients for the recipe. No frías el pollo en la sartén. No pongas el aceite ni el vinagre en la ensalada. No vayas al supermercado ahora. No apagues la estufa. No me des los ingredientes para la receta.
