Acabar de + infinitive Used to state the subject has just done the action. Acabar is a regular –ar verb (-o, -as, -a, -amos, -áis, -an) Remember that infinitives end in –ar, -er, or –ir. This construction does not translate directly to English.

Formation Conjugate acabar to agree with whomever is doing the action. Follow the conjugated form of acabar with de then the infinitive of what the person just did. Ex: I just ate cereal. They just studied for the test. Acaban de estudiar para el examen. Acabo de comer la cereal.
