2 CONJUGATING –AR VERBS  Infinitives are verbs that are not assigned a subject.  Conjugating is assigning a subject to a verb and changing the forms to indicate who is doing the action.

3 STEPS TO CONJUGATING A REGULAR –AR VERB Step one:  Remove the –ar from the verb hablar habl-ar  This is called the stem of the verb: habl Step two:  Add your verb endings according to the subject  The verb endings are as follows: yo-onosotros-amos tú-asvosotros-áis (used in Spain) él/ella-aellos/ellas-an ustedustedes

4 EXAMPLE OF A CONJUGATED REGULAR –AR VERB 1.Remove the -ar  yohablo I speak  túhablas you speak  él/ella/Ud.habla he/she speaks you speak 2.Add the verb endings  nosotroshablamos we speak  vosotroshabláis you speak (used in Spain)  ellos/ellas/Uds.hablan they speak you all speak

5 OTHER TRANSLATIONS:  Yo hablo Ella habla  I speakShe speaks  I am speakingShe is speaking  I do speakShe does speak
