Hace unos 20 mil años (18,000 a.de.C) gente de Asia descubrió América. Fueron cazadores y buscaron animales para comer. Fueron a pie desde Siberia hasta Alaska. Se quedaron en América del Norte y América del Sur. This is to be presented orally by teacher with actions for key words and using the map and timeline for support. En 600 unos marineros irlandeses fueron en barco a América pero no se quedaron. En 986 Bjarni Herjolfsson, un vikingo, llegó a la costa de América. No se quedó pero regresó y contó historias del nuevo continente. Unos años después, Leif Eriksson, un vikingo, oyó las historias y se fue a América. Cristóbal Colón nació en Genoa, Italia en Fue explorador y quería buscar una nueva ruta entre Europa e India en barco. La reina Isabela de Castilla le dió tres barcos para su primer viaje en Salió de Palos, España el 3 de agosto con los barcos Santa María, Pinta y Niña. El 29 de octubre llegó a Cuba y el 5 de diciembre a la Española. En esta isla fundó un fuerte que llamó La Navidad. La Santa María naufragó en el mar caribe. Colón salió el 16 de enero en la Pinta hacia España. La Pinta y la Niña se separaron durante una gran tormenta.
