2 All about Ms. Modi I recently moved to Los Angeles from Connecticut and am loving it! I graduated from Pace University (Master’s in Elementary Education) Southern Connecticut State University- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Before coming to California, I worked as a Kindergarten Aide at a very diverse school in Connecticut with over 400 students. Recientemente me mudé a Los Angeles desde Connecticut y estoy amando él! Me gradué de la Universidad de Pace (Maestro en Educación Primaria) un título de la Universidad Estatal de Southern Connecticut Licenciatura en Psicología. 15 Literacy (cont.) Literacy time will be divided between group instruction and independent work time. ELA instruction will follow the Workshop model and will involve short focused lesson. Focus on six traits of writing are conventions, sentence fluency, word choice, ideas/content, voice and organization. 16 Language Arts Reading comprehension is a huge focus in first grade. Through whole class, small group, and individualized instruction we will analyze literature. Students should be able to retell stories in own words and pick out story elements (setting, plot, characters, etc) –I will be sending home strategies on building reading fluency and identifying unknown words.
