In English the passive voice is rarely used. Meat is sold at the butcher shop. Fresh vegetables are sold here.
By contrast, the Spanish language uses the SE Impersonal or the passive voice frequently. To form the passive voice you need 1.SE and 2. the él, ella, Ud. form of the verb (singular-3 rd person ) or the ellos, ellas, Uds. form of the verb. (plural- 3 rd person)
How do you determine what form of verb to use? The noun that follows the conjugated verb determines if that verb will be conjugated in the singular or plural form. Modelo: Se construye la casa. The house is built Se construyen las casas. The houses are built.
SE can also be used to convey the general subject one, they and people. Se habla español aquí. Spanish is spoken here. No se debe nadar después de comer. People shouldnt swim after eating. Se para en la esquina. You stop on the corner.
