Introduction to Genome Scale metabolic network reconstructions Andrés Pinzón Ph.D. Dirección de investigación y desarrollo
2
What is metabolism? Texto Metabolism is the set of chemical reactions that take place in living organisms to maintain life. These chemical reactions allow organisms to grow and reproduce, maintain their structures, and respond to the environment.
3
...are organized into metabolic pathways, in which one chemical is transformed through a series of steps into another chemical, by a sequence of Enzymes.
4
are that catalyze chemical reactions are proteins that catalyze chemical reactions
5
Metabolic reconstruction Allow us to represent the set of biochemical reactions present in a biological system and can be interrogated by computational methods

Y max. Para todas las reacciones en la red. Se pueden estudiar las redundancias del modelo. Análisis comunes en reconstrucciones metabólicas

Phytophthora infestans causes a serious potato disease known as Late blight. A decrease in photosynthetic capacity is characteristic in infected potatoes. Necrosis of plant tissue. Just in th USA economic losses rise to US$5'000.000.000 per year.In colombia up to 30% of total potato production cost comes just from disease control.
