1 El or La, Los or Las All people, places and things in Spanish have a corresponding article (el, la, los or las). The article tells if the person, place or thing is masculine or feminine. (They arent actually girly or boyish, but they are identified as masculine or feminine by their article.) El, la, los and las most often mean the, though sometimes they just go with the noun. These articles will be important later when you describe people, places, and things.
