Potter Electric Signal Company is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. All of the products are made in North America and all of the Sprinkler Products are made in St. Louis. Founded in 1898 by Charles Potter, the Company is privately held and employees about 120 people. In most instances the release panel will not be the main fire panel in the protected premises. The release panel will be monitoring initiating devices that are protecting a particular area of the premises. The release panel’s system alarm, trouble, and supervisory relay contacts will then be monitored by the main fire alarm panel. Per NFPA72, 1996, , The initiating devices for the protected area are supposed to be connected directly to the release panel. The release panel does not monitor the main building fire panel.

It will sound the supervisory buzzer and activate the supervisory relay as well as activate any outputs programmed as supervisory. It will not create any type of alarm indication. Low Air Alarm zones can be mapped to outputs programmed as release. This is a new feature.

9 PFC-4410-RC 1. The outputs can be programmed to operate for Release, Alarm, Trouble, or Supervisory conditions. The polarity marked on the board is for a Normal condition. Polarity reverses when the output is activated. In other words, when notification appliances are connected, it is going to look like they are connected backwards. The positive terminal of the appliance will connect to the terminal marked negative on the panel and the negative terminal on the appliance will connect to the terminal marked positive on the panel. 2. Note that the End Of Line Diode assembly gets wired in series with the solenoid as opposed to the End Of Line Resistors that get wired in parallel with the notification appliances. The reason for the is to polarize the solenoid. The notification appliances have a diode built into them. Note also that the diode assembly appears to be connected backwards, black to positive and red through the solenoid to negative. 3. Zones 1-4 can be programmed as either Alarm or Supervisory zones. The Supervisory zone is only for Supervisory devices. 4. The class A modules plug into the just below the initiating zones. The class A module has extra terminals for the return wiring.
