3 LA HISTORIA DE STACEY As a young child he was often kept in a closet of his house. (Was adopted with siblings by grandmother) He did not speak for a long time. (His grandmother taught him) When I met Stacey he was laying on the floor in a church class room not learning. I decided to teach him myself with no training. He learned to trust me and I learned how to teach him. ( Word searches, Making stories simple, less distractions, using a routine and including him in all activities) He is now involved in all sorts of activities . He is a vital part of the community and love by everyone who knows him. It can be very challenging at times but is worth it. He has taught me just as much if not more than I have taught him.

La participación en actividades atléticas promueve la socialización, el desarrollo de destrezas de liderazgo, el enfoque, el bienestar físico y, por supuesto, es divertido. 

6 VÍDEO How does a young man in Peru play soccer without the use of his legs? How does his team treat him? Special Olympics does not happen without Volunteers and others supporting the players. This is a great way to get youth and churches involved. Did you know that Bolivia has many Special Olympics teams? Jose Ramos does not let hi disability get in the way of his love of music.

10 Vamos a trabajar juntos para ver tan desafiante y gratificante lo es poder jugar deportes cuando uno tiene una discapacidad. También vamos a descubrir maneras de adaptar lo que hacemos para poder incluir a todos.

11 Vamos a armar estos conos y tratar de mover esta pelota entre ellos con los ojos vendados.
Los entrenadores y otros miembros del equipo pueden ayudar al decirle al jugador la dirección en que mover la pelota. El jugador también escuchará los sonidos que hace la pelota. Mientras jugamos este juego piensen Uds. en cómo pueden adaptarse otros deportes o actividades para incluir a otros.

Como maestros y padres ¿cómo podemos conseguir que nuestros niños sean involucrados y aceptados? ¿Cuáles son los beneficios a todas las personas involucradas en la actividad? ¿Fue un reto jugar el deporte de una manera diferente? ¿Estuvo gratificante?
