3 INTRODUCCIÓN Este material tiene la intención de enseñarte el uso e identificación de los referentes, así como la aplicación de estos en el idioma inglés. Los textos que encontrarás en el material son auténticos, es decir que estos no fueron diseñados o reestructurados si no que están enfocados a los lectores nativo – hablantes del inglés, característica importante ya que en ocasiones te enfrentaras a lecturas en inglés o conversaciones en este idioma, para lo cual necesitarás desarrollar tus habilidades lectoras, auditivas y escritas, es por esto que a lo largo del material te encontrarás con dos textos diferentes y un audio con el fin de que trates temáticas distintas, un rango importante de información, vocabulario variado, así como diferentes ejercicios y actividades de aprendizaje para que identifiques algunos referentes, el uso e intención que estos tienen. Espero que te sea útil y que logre el desarrollo de las habilidades y conocimientos aquí propuestos, pero también que fomenten tus hábitos por la lectura, así como tu interés por indagar más sobre los temas que no te queden muy claros o por temas que sean importantes para ti, recuerda que la lectura aumentará tu nivel cultural.

5 DEFINICIÓN Cuando un autor quiere referirse a un concepto que ya mencionó, generalmente utiliza los referentes (pronombres personales, objetivos, posesivos, reflexivos, relativos, demostrativos y adjetivos posesivos entre otros) con el fin de no sonar repetitivo a través del texto o de no repetir varias veces un mismo concepto a la hora de hablar. Como verás la importancia del uso de los referentes para una redacción correcta es mucha ya que a partir de la identificación de estos y de los sujetos a los que reemplazan te será más fácil identificar de que o quien se esta hablando.
