5 Gn 3:1-4 Mt 4:1-13

6 NUESTRO PACTO CON DIOS El Pacto nos protégé de:
Las Mentiras de Satanás y la Influencia Mundana Los Deseos Pecaminosos de la Carne Las Condiciones del Pacto son declaraciones “Si… Entonces” que establecen nuestro acuerdo con Dios. Aún nuestro Pacto de Gracia está hecho de cláusulas “Si…Entonces” Satanás busca corromper nuestro Pacto al proveernos con escapes atractivos Romans 6:1-14 (NIV) What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. 5 If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection. 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— 7 because anyone who has died has been freed from sin. 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. 10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. 11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13 Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. 14 For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace. Ephesians 2:4-5 (NIV) 4But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. Ephesians 4:22-24 (NIV) 22You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. 2 Corinthians 4:5-6 (NIV) 5For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

7 CUATRO PASOS RECALIBRAR RECTITUD EXPONER EXCUSAS DESVIAR TENTACIONES
PREPARARSE VIA ORACION

8 1. RECALIBRAR RECTITUD

Romans 1:18-32 (NIV) 18The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. 21For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. 24Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen. 26Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. 28Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. Ephesians 2:1-3 (NIV) As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. Ephesians 4:17-19 (NIV) 17So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more. 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 (NIV) 3And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

What shall we say, then?

12 “SANTOS” NO “PECADORES”
¿Pecadores? ¡Dios Perdonó! Ro 3:7-8, 5:19; 1 P 4:18 “Todos Seguimos Siendo Pecadores” es falsa humildad, plática descuidada Esta falsa humildad necesariamente contempla bajas expectativas para la rectitud Rom 3:7 But if through my lie God’s truth abounds to his glory, why am I still being condemned as a sinner? Rom 5:8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Rom 5:19 For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous. Gal 2:15 We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; Gal 2:17 But if, in our endeavor to be justified in Christ, we too were found to be sinners, is Christ then a servant of sin? Certainly not! 1 Tim 1:9 understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, 1 Tim 1:15 The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. (but take note of v in context) Heb 7:26 For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. Heb 12:3 Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted. James 4:8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 5:20 let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins. 1 Pet 4:18 And “ If the righteous is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?” Jude 15 to execute judgment on all and to convict all the ungodly of all their deeds of ungodliness that they have committed in such an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”

13 SANTIDAD VS. EXCELENCIA
Hebrews 9:13-14 (ESV) 13For if the sprinkling of defiled persons with the blood of goats and bulls and with the ashes of a heifer sanctifies for the purification of the flesh, 14how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God. Homeostasis… Flesh seeks and regulates homeostasis: body temperature, insulin levels, blood sugar, etc.

14 AMBICIONA SANTIDAD 1 P 1:13-18 Mt 5:48 Sal 119:9 2 Co 7:1 Col 1:28
1 J 3:4-9 Fil 3:12-14 Heb 9:13-14

15 2. EXPONER EXCUSAS

I’ll just repent later · Who is this really hurting anyway? · It’s better to do this than to burn · God made me this way · I just need a break today… life is so stinkin’ unfair. · Entitlement; victim mentality; self centered; self seeking Apathy · I just don’t care if this is sin; it’s what I’m going to do. · No fear of God; no love for God · I really don’t think about anything; I just do it. · Hatred and lack of discipline Contempt · I’m not as bad as some brothers · Some more mature brothers struggle with this sin too · I don’t need to confess to men… only to God · Those brothers are just going to condemn if I try to help Worldliness · Due to excessive exposure to and friendship with the world, one has his mindset reconformed to the world · Some doctors consider this healthy · I need to take care of myself for a change · Everybody is doing it

I haven’t been doing it as much as before, so this won’t be so bad” Covenantal Corruption: This is a basic misunderstanding of holiness and righteousness. Holiness means without blemish not with fewer blemishes. Our goal is obedience, not excellence. Matthew 5:48; 2 Cor 7:1; Heb 10:14-27; Rom 6:19-22; Phil 2:12 “Since I’ve already thought it, I might as well go ahead and do it.” OR “It’ll be just this one last time” Covenantal Corruption: God does not offer a license for lasciviousness (Jude 4) through Grace. Instead, we should fear a God who will turn us over to our lusts. How do we know the “tipping point” from we which will not be delivered. It could be “this one last time.” Romans 1:21-27, 6:1-18; Isaiah 30:1; Psalm 81:11-12; Acts 7:41-42 “It’s not as bad as actual sex” Covenantal Corruption: Christ redeems from sin completely. He doesn’t simply redeem us from sin that society considers more egregious. We are cleansed from the inside out by the Holy Spirit. We are not hypocrites who only look good outwardly. Matthew 5:28 (NIV) “I’ll be able to stop when I married” Covenantal Corruption: Paul does tell us: “But if they do not have self-control, let them get married. For it is better to marry than to burn with sexual desire.” However, burning with desire does not equal an excuse for impurity or immorality. Don’t expect God to bless your pursuit of a Godly woman if you are not first committed to purity and godliness. Furthermore, this is an “outside in” approach to purity. It expects behavioral change without moral change. It is similar to a sexually immoral couple deciding to marry. They never repented, they simply tried to legitimize their sexual immorality with a marriage certificate. Neither their hearts nor their behavior changed. We are not slaves to sin. We are not victims to our desires when we have born again. How can we REALLY become pure?... Psalm 119:9, 2 Cor 12:21; Gal 5:19-20, Rom 6:19-23; Eph 5:3-7; 1Thess 4:7; Col 3:5-9; Rev 21:27 “My body just couldn’t take it any longer” Covenantal Corruption: Because we don’t really believe that we have been set free from sin, we eventually adopt the posture of a victim – powerless to combat sin. We instead have been reborn of the Holy Spirit, by the very power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ! We are more than conquerors. Stop acting like a wimp. 1 Corinthians 16:13, 1Cor 10:13; Rom 6, 8:37-39, 15:13; 2Cor 4:7, 13:4; Eph 1:19; Titus 2:10-12; 2 Tim 1:7; James 5:16; Col 2:11-12, 2:20-3:10; 1 Pet 2:11-12 “I don’t have an excuse, I just put everything out of my mind… I don’t think about anything” Covenantal Corruption: This is the scariest of all excuses because it indicates that we no longer even give consideration to our sins. It is a real hardening of the heart, a searing of the conscience. Exodus 7 (Pharaoh); 2Cor 3:14; Heb 3:15, 4:7-12, 6:4-6, 10:26; Eph 4:19; 1Tim 4:1-2, 6:5; Titus 1:15; Heb 3:13 “God understands; he forgives me. There’s grace, so I’ll repent later and be forgiven” Covenantal Corruption: Sin destroys. David was forgiven, but the reminder of his life was much different after defacing Bathsheba and murdering Uriah (see 2Sam 11-12). Plus, False Prophets do not turn people from sin – and are vigorously condemned by God. Jude 3-4,15; Rom 3:8, 6:1; 2 Samuel 12:7-15; 1John 3:8, 1John 2:1; Eph 5:5-7; Lam 2:14; Jer 5:31, 6:14-15, 23:22 “Let me get in as much as I can before I come into the light and/or finally repent” Covenantal Corruption: In no way does this excuse represent a pursuit of righteousness, holiness, or purity. This reasoning treasures sin more than valuing the holiness credited to us in Christ. This is clearly an abuse of Grace. See comments on previous slide. Amos 5:12 “I can’t get on with my day until I get rid of this erection” Covenantal Corruption: To see the fallacy of this reasoning, simply restate it – “I can’t get my day going until I SIN.” We now live for righteousness, so try starting your day with another prayer and see what happens. Romans 6:13 (NIV) Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. “At least I’m not thinking about a sister” Covenantal Corruption: You are bypassing the real issue that you’ve already indulged the sin of lust! Would it matter if you lied to, cheated, or killed a Christian vs. a non-Christian? Everyone is created in the “image of God” so everyone should be respected; no woman should be “objectified” (that is, treated or ogled as an object rather than as the image of God). Treat all younger women as your sisters! Genesis 1:26-27, 9:6; Matthew 5:28-30 See the notes section of this slide for a treatment of these excuses
