3 Irregular ‘Yo’ forms in the past tense
The changes are required to preserve the hard sound of the consonants ‘g’ and ‘c’ NOTE: The changes apply to the ‘YO’ form only!!! The changes happen to 3 types of ‘AR’ verbs only Verbs that end in –car change c to qu eg: tocar > (yo) toqué (I played) Verbs that end in –gar change g to gu eg: jugar > (yo) jugué (I played) Verbs that end in –zar change the z to c eg: empezar > (yo) empecé (I began)
