The DIRECT OBJECT is the object that receives the action of the verb. We can replace the D.O. with a pronoun: It can go in 2 places BEFORE THE CONJUGATED VERB Attached to the INFINITIVE Me Nos Te Os Lo / La Los / Las

The INDIRECT OBJECT is the person who receives the direct object or benefits from the verb. We can replace the I.D.O. with a pronoun: Me Nos Te Os Le Les It can go in 2 places BEFORE THE CONJUGATED VERB Attached to the INFINITIVE

Identify the DIRECT and INDIRECT objects. I give Jasmin the book. We deliver the tacos to the hungry people. I give the sad little girl a hug. You have to deliver the paper to the old lady. Nate is explaining the lecture to his girlfriend.

5 Ahora en español… Nosotros servimos la comida a los profesores.

6 How do we use pronouns if we have a D.O. and an I.D.O.?
Lets look at this sentence: Identify the D.O. and the I.D.O. Remove and replace with PRONOUNS. BUT WHERE DO WE PUT THE PRONOUNS?! Mario da lo el bolígrafo me a mí

7 Pronoun placement… 2 RULES: 1. Indirect always goes before Direct!!!
We can still place the D.O. and the I.D.O. in the same 2 places: Before the conjugated verb Attached to the INFINITIVE 2 RULES: 1. Indirect always goes before Direct!!! 2. LE and LES may have to change to SE

Jose me da a mi los los boligrafos Jose gives to me the pens. Jose gives me them. Nosotros tenemos que servir la comida les la a ellos We have to serve them it. We have to serve the food to them. Tú preparas le lo el proyecto para el profesor You prepare the project for the teacher. You prepare it for him.

9 LE and LES may have to change to SE
When both pronouns are in the 3rd person, we change the I.D.O. to “SE” EXAMPLES: Julio da. Ana y Maria hacen. Paco tiene que preparár se le los se les la se le lo

Yo voy a dar a ella el flor. Yo se lo voy a dar. Yo voy a dárselo. Tú estás escribiendo la carta a mi novia. Se la estás escribiendo. Estás escribiéndosela. Mi mamá lee a nosotros la revista. Mi mamá nos la lee.
