2 Familia rap This rap is on YouTube – search ‘mi familia rap’ Listen to the rap all the way through once. Then give out the 16 lines of the rap cut up and get students to listen and put them in the correct order – it does go quickly but they do have the words appearing on the video to help. They may need to listen to it twice to do it. Get them to identify the chorus (not hard!) and get them to practise pronouncing the chorus with you and then listen to the song again with them trying to say the chorus words in time. The verses begin to use vocabulary from physical description that they will be doing as their next topic so it wouldn’t be bad to get ideas from them about what the words mean – if they learn a few of these new words from the song, it will be a good bridge into the next topic for them. Finally, it might be worth seeing if they can come up with a verse of their own, using their own members of the family. They can use vocab books and just stick to names, ages, nationalities. Of course, any space in this lesson could be used for follow up vocabulary work, sentence-building, using ‘tener’ to make sure they know this verb etc...
