2 In Spanish, there are two simple past tenses: the preterite and the imperfect. The preterite is used to state an action that began and ended at a specific time in the past. Ayer yo comí helado. Yesterday, I ate ice cream. The imperfect is used describe a habitual or repeated past action. The exact time when the action began or ended are not important. The imperfect tense can often be translated as used to do something. Cada sábado, yo jugaba al fútbol. Every Saturday, I used to play soccer.

3 El imperfecto de los verbos -AR To conjugate AR verbs in the imperfect, there are three steps: 1. Start with the infinitive 2. Drop the –AR 3. Add the endings
