2 The Perfect Tenses O The present perfect is formed by using the verb haber in the present tense + the past participle. O The present perfect is “I have done, you have done”, etc. O Haber: O He O Has O Ha O Hemos O Han

3 O The pluperfect is “I had done, you had done”, etc. O It is formed by using haber in the imperfect + the past participle. O Había O Habías O Había O Habíamos O Habían

4 O There is also a future perfect (“I will have done, you will have done”, etc.) O This is formed by using haber in the future + the past participle. O Habré O Habrás O Habrá O Habremos O habrán

5 O There is also a conditional perfect (“I would have done, you will have done”, etc.) O This is formed by using haber in the conditional + the past participle. O Habría O Habrías O Habría O Habríamos O habrían

6 Forming the past participles O For –ar verbs: take the stem & add “ado”. O Hablado O Nevado O Terminado O For –er verbs AND – ir verbs, take the stem and add “ido”. O Comido O Corrido O Exigido O Eligido O Salido O asistido

7 Irregulars! O The common ones: O Hacer – hecho O Decir – dicho

8 O Abrir – abierto O Escribir – escrito O Ver – visto O Poner – puesto

9 O Romper – roto  Morir – muerto  Imprimir – impreso

10 Some patterns: Volver – vuelto Revolver - revuelto O Cubrir- cubierto O Descubrir – descubierto

11 Another Pattern O Componer – compuesto O Disponer – dispuesto

12  The ones with accents (para separar el diptongo):  Leer – leído  Oír - oído  Reír - reído  Traer - traído

13 To wrap up: O I have spoken. O He hablado. O I had spoken. O Había hablado. O I will have spoken. O Habré hablado. O I would have spoken. O Habría hablado.

14 Práctica O 1. I have solved the problem. O He resuelto el problema.

15 O 2. We had already done our homework, set the table, and prepared dinner when our mom came home. O Ya habíamos hecho la tarea, puesto la mesa, y preparado la cena cuando nuestra mamá regresó (o llegó o vino) a casa.

16 O 3. Have your plants died? O ¿Han muerto tus plantas?

17  4. We will have taken the trash out when you arrive.  Habremos sacado la basura cuando llegues*.  *subjuntivo

18 O 5. I would have told the truth, but I didn’t want to. O Habría dicho la verdad, pero no quise/quería.
