12 Gustar (to please)  used to say that someone “likes” something  we are really saying that something pleases someone  Examples: “I like ice cream.” = Ice cream pleases me. Me gusta el helado. “I like hamburgers.” = Hamburgers please me. Me gustan las hamburguesas.

13 Gustar – to please/to like  If you are placing a name in your sentence, you MUST have “a” before the name.  Ejemplo:  A Marta le gustan las frutas.  A Julio le gusta el perro.  A David le gusta la pizza.

14 No me gusta…  To say you (or someone else) doesn’t like something:  No (me, te, le, nos, les) gusta….  No me gustan las frutas = I don’t like fruit.  No me gusta la pizza = I don’t like pizza. To say you REALLY don’t like something:  No me gusta la pizza para nada. = I don’t like pizza at all.

15 Plurals  When what you like is plural, add an “n”  Me gustan los videojuegos.  When you are saying you like two things, you don’t need the “n”.  Me gusta la pizza y el ajedrez.
