3 Imperative mood  When making commands, we are using the imperative mood.  This is not a tense (pretérito, imperfecto, presente, etc…)  You use this when telling people what to do.

4 Forming affirmative tú commands There are several irregulars. But for now, let’s focus on the general formation. 1 st Put the verb in the present Él/Ella form correr  corre comprar  compra llamar  llama 2 nd Add exclamation points if desired ¡corre! run! ¡compra! buy! ¡llama! call!

5 ¡Practica! Put these verbs into affirmative tú commands  Escribir   Bailar   Traer   Cocinar   Dejar   Probar  ¡Escribe! ¡Baila! ¡Trae! ¡Cocina! ¡Deja! ¡Prueba!

6 Irregulares  These are the verbs that have different tú commands. Poner- Pon Ir-Ve Venir- Ven Salir-Sal Tener- Ten Ser-Sé Decir- Di Hacer-Haz

7 ¡Traduzca! ¡Escribe mi ensayo! ¡Llama a la policía ahora! ¡Di la verdad Rebecca! ¡Sal de mi casa ahora mismo! ¡Llava los platos después de comer! Write my essay! Call the police now! Tell the truth, Rebeca! Leave my house right now! Wash the plates after eating!

8 ¡Haz mandatos! Make 5 sentences with tú commands using a verb and a phrase from the table. 10 Adding indirect object pronouns After we add the pronoun, we have to add an accent for most commands. But, we’ll go over that in a bit. Remember the indirect object pronouns? Me Nos Te Os Le Les Add an indirect object pronoun to the end of the tú command when ordering someone (tú) to do something to someone else. ¡Llama!=Call!¡Llámame!=Call me!

11 ¡Mira! Once again, you just add the IOP to the command. Trae= Bring Tráeme=Bring me Llama=Call Llámale=Call him Di=Tell Dinos=Tell us Abraza=Hug Abrázales=Hug them Traer=To bring Llamar=To call Decir=To tell Abrazar=To hug

12 ¡Traduzca! ¡Léeme el libro Twilight! ¡Cómprame un coche para mi cumpleaños! Dile que no puedo asistir a su fiesta. Traénos la cuenta. ¡Abre las ventanas! Read me the book Twilight! Buy me a car for my birthday! Tell her I can’t attend her party. Bring us the check. Open the windows!

13 Here are some FUN commands ¡Cállate! Shut up! Literally means “silence yourself” ¡Déjame en paz! Leave me alone! El smosh. ¿No? ¡No seas estúpido! Don’t be stupid!

14 Practica  Help me! ¡____________!  Be nice to your brother! ¡____________________!  Clean your room! ¡________________!  Do your homework! ¡______________!  Take your seat! ¡_______________! Ayúdame Sé simpático a tu hermano Limpia tu cuarto Haz tu tarea Toma tu asiento

15 Acentos  Commands only get accent marks if they have 3 or more syllables.  Count back 3 syllables to find where to put the accent mark. Ayudame 12 3 4 12 3 Ayúdame

16 Acentos  Any command with an irregular (Pon, Haz, Vi, etc…) does NOT get an accent, even with 3 or more syllables. ¡Ponte! ¡Dime! ¡Haznos!
