2  There is more than one past tense in Spanish.  The preterite tense is for completed, simple actions in the past (I ate).  The imperfect tense is for continuous actions in the past (I was eating).

3 A) Was/were...ing › (While I was/we were working in the factory...) B) Used to › ( Every day I used to …) C) Would- when it means used to › (Every morning I would visit my grandpa)

5  Drop the -ar/-er/-ir from the infinitive.  Add the imperfect ending: -ar verbs aba, abas, aba, ábamos, abais, aban -er/-ir verbs ía, ías, ía, íamos, íais, ían

6  Hablar drop the –ar: habl  Add the endings to agree with the subjects: hablabahablábamos hablabashablabais hablabahablaban

7  Comer drop the –er: com  Add the endings to agree with the subjects: comíacomíamos comíascomíais comíacomían
