Should – Know the difference between ‘Tengo’ and ‘Tengo que’ Tengo (from the verb tener) means “I have” Un ejemplo: Tengo un lápiz – I have a pencil. HOWEVER, Tengo que + infinitive verb means “I have to...” Un ejemplo: “Tengo que hacer mis deberes” – I have to do my homework.
