3 Objetos Directos Direct objects directly recieve the action of the verb The direct object answers the question "what?" or "whom?" with regard to what the subject of the sentence is doing. – Ej: Él encuetra ella He finds her—finds whom?—her is the DO – Él pide el menú He asks for the menu—asks for what?—the menu is the DO

4 Pronombres de los Objetos Directos Once we have found the Direct Object we may want to use a Direct Object Pronoun These pronouns match and replace the direct object and are positioned in front of the verb – Ej: Él pide el menú Menú—lo : Él lo pide – Él encuentra ella Ella—la : Él la encuentra Me (me)Nos (us) Te (you-familiar)Os (y´all-familiar) Lo, La (him, her, it, you-formal) Los, Las (them, you all-formal)

6 Objetos Indirectos The indirect object (IO) tells us where the direct object (DO) is going The indirect object answers the question "To whom?" or "For whom?" the action of the verb is performed. – Ej:Él encuentra la niña para su padre He finds her for her dad—for whom?—her dad is the IO – Él pide el menú para nosotros He asks for the menu for us—for whom?—us is the IO

7 Pronombres de los Objetos Indirectos Once we have found the Indirect Object we may want to use an Indirect Object Pronoun These pronouns match and replace the indirect object and are positioned in front of the verb (and before the DOP if there is one) – Ej: Él encuentra la niña para su padre Padre—le : Él le encuentra la niña – Él pide el menú para nosotros Nosotros—nos : Él nos pide el menú Me (me)Nos (us) Te (you-familiar)Os (y´all-familiar) Le (him, her, you- formal) Les (them, you all- formal) Use “a ______” to clarify who you are talking about when using “le” or “les” Just like how we did with gustar Ej: Él le encuentra la niña a su padre

There will be cases where we use indirect AND direct object pronouns – Ej: ella bloquea los cruceros para mi S: ella, DO: los cruceros, IO: mi Ella me los bloquea Any time you need to combine the IOPs Le or Les with the DOPs Lo, La, Los or Las you must change le or les to se – Ej: ella bloquea los cruceros para él Ella le los bloquea Ella se los bloquea
