4 The present tense in Spanish can be translated FOUR ways in English. Hablo = Hablo = 1. I talk 2. I do talk 3. I am talking 4. I will talk (do not try to translate the words do, am, or will. They are included in the Spanish verb)

6 How do we form “el presente”? w We take the infinitve form of the verb w Take off the -ar, -er, -ir w Add the present tense endings to the stem  Hablar - ar = habl + endings w comer - er = com + endings  escribir - ir = escrib + endings
