5 1A APUNTES DE GUSTAR Remember : (A mí) and (A ti) are optional and used for Clarification Emphasis (A nosotros and A vosotros is also optional) You MUST HAVE these in front of your sentences when using he, she, you formal, they and you all. A él… A ella… A usted... A ellos… A ellas... A ustedes...

6 1A APUNTES DE GUSTAR Because clarification is NECESSARY. Él, ella and usted all use “le gusta” and ellos, ellas and ustedes all use “les gusta” so it is necessary to clarify who is doing the liking. You can obviously tell who the subject is in these sentences: Me gusta dibujar Te gusta patinar No nos gusta cantar However, you CANNOT tell the subject in these sentences so a clarification must be made Les gusta dibujar  A ustedes les gusta dibujar Le gusta patinar  A Andrés le gusta No les gusta cantar  A ellos no les gusta cantar.
