2 Forming the past perfect Combine the imperfect of haber with the past participle of the main verb. Había Habías(-ado, -ido) Había+past participle Habíamos Habían Luis called us at four but we had already gone. Luis nos llamó a las cuatro, pero ya habíamos ido.
