3 Preterite Tense The preterite tense in Spanish is used to tell what happened at specific times in the past. Ayer comí una hamburguesa. Yesterday, I ate a hamburger.

4 AR, ER, IR Verbs Just like with present tense, you will have 6 different endings for AR, ER, and IR verbs that must change according to your subject.

5 AR Preterite Endings Yo -é Nosotros -amos Tú -aste Vosotros -asteis
Ud Uds aron Él ó Ellos Ella ****Stem-changing AR verbs don’t change in preterite (i.e. encontrar, almorzar…..)

6 Viajar (to travel) Viajé Viajamos Viajaste Viajasteis Viajó Viajaron

7 Conjuguen. Conjuguen en el pretérito y escriban lo que signigican.

8 ER and IR Preterite Endings
Yo í Nosotros -imos Tú iste Vosotros -isteis Ud Uds ieron Él ió Ellos Ella ****Stem-changing ER verbs don’t change in preterite (i.e. volver, llover, entender…..)

9 Recibir (to receive) Recibí Recibimos Recibiste Recibisteis
Recibió Recibieron

10 Conocer (to know, meet) Conocí Conocimos Conociste Conocisteis
Conoció Conocieron ***Conocer in the preterite means so meet someone for the first time.

11 Conjuguen Conjugen y escriban lo que signigica. 1. Salir 2. Asistir
