3 Preterite Verbs Preterite means past tense Preterite verbs deal withcompleted past action The ending tells who did the action.

4 -AR Preterite Endings Just as -o, -as, -a, -amos, -an tell you that the action takes place in the present, -é, -aste, -ó, -amos, -aron, tell you that the action took place in the past.

10 Preterite Remember that -ar verbs that have a stem change in the present tense do not have a stem change in the preterite.
