2 Hace formulas are used in Spanish to indicate:
The verb hacer (to make or to do) is often used to create idiomatic expressions of time. In such sentences, hacer is always in él, ella, Ud. form. Hace formulas are used in Spanish to indicate: how long something has been happening & still is happening how long ago something happened (preterite)

3 Present Tense Question Formula:
¿Cuánto tiempo hace que (present tense verb) Ejemplo: ¿Cuánto tiempo hace que asistes a Hillgrove HS? Present Tense Answer Formula: Hace + (amt. of time) + que + present tense verb Ejemplo: Hace 2 años que asisto a Hillgrove HS The Present Tense Formula expresses how long something has been happening (& still is happening)

Present Tense Answer Formula: Hace + (amt. of time) + que + preterite tense verb Ejemplo: Hace 2 años que conocí a Berto The Present + Preterite Tense Formula expresses how long it has been since a specific event has happened Specific event took place Today (right now) Time since it happened

7 The formula used to state how long ago something occurred is similar to the formula used to ask the question. The verb following que is in the preterite tense because it happened at a specific time. This idiomatic expression indicates how long ago the verb in the preterite was done. ¿Cuánto tiempo hace que empezó a trabajar a Hillgrove la Sra. Bowers? Hace 5 años que Sra. Bowers empezó a trabajar a Hillgrove. Hace un mes que Carmen llegó.  Hace un día que nosotros aprendimos el Presente Perfecto Hace un poco más de 1 año que fui a España. Hace una semana que Luis terminó el libro.
