Estudios muestran que la participación de los padres en la educación de sus hijos contribuye a un mejor rendimiento académico del estudiante. Everyone -- students, parents, teachers, administrators, and communities -- benefits from family involvement. Todos participan!estudiantes, padres, maestros(as), administradores, y comunidades, se benefician al participar la familia!

La participación positiva de la familia, mejora el rendimiento académico del estudiante. While parent/family involvement improves student outcomes, variations in culture, ethnicity, and/ or socioeconomic background affect how families are involved. Mientras que la participación de los padres/familia mejora el rendimiento académico del estudiante, puede haber cambios de cultura, o socioeconómicos que impidan la participación en la educación de sus hijos(as).

7 R ESEARCH …. E STUDIOS DE LA P ARTICIPACIÓN.. Parent/family involvement in early childhood programs help children succeed in their transition to kindergarten and elementary school. La participación de los padres desde Pre-escolar ayuda a que el niño(a) tenga éxito en Kinder y Primaria. Parent/families may need guidance and assistance in how to effectively help their children with homework. Los padres necesitan apoyo y entrenamiento de como ayudar a sus niños (as) con la tarea.

8 E FFECTIVE S CHOOLS E SCUELAS E JEMPLARES Effective programs assist parents in creating a home environment that fosters learning and provides support and encouragement for their childrens success. Los programas efectivos ayudan a que los padres tengan un ambiente de aprendizaje en casa para apoyar y motivar a que el niño(a) alcance el éxito académico.

9 F ACTORS IN I NVOLVEMENT F ACTORES DE LA P ARTICIPACIÓN Parents are a childs first teachers. Los Padres son los primeros maestros del niño (a). Parents should recognize the importance of becoming involved or know where to begin. Los padres deben reconocer la importancia de su participación en la educacion de sus hijos (as).

11 P ARENTAL I NVOLVEMENT L A P ARTICIPACIÓN DE LOS P ADRES Parent involvement requires a vision, policy, and framework. A consensus of understanding is important. La participación de los padres requiere una visión, reglas y un plan. Es importante que entiendan la importancia de su participación y lo acepten.

12 B ARRIERS TO I NVOLVEMENT B ARRERAS QUE IMPIDEN LA P ARTICIPACIÓN Cultural differences (language barriers, attitudes toward professionals, lack of knowledge of the American education system); Diferencias culturales( el idioma, actitudes hacia los profesionistas, falta de conocimiento del sistema de educación en América.
