3 The Conditional Todos serían inmortales.
Menos nosotros, los mayores, los adultos, los formados, en cuyo organismo la semilla de la muerte estaba ya definitivamente implantada. Todos los muchachos sobrevivirían para siempre. Serían inmortales y de hecho animales de otra especie. Ya no seres humanos; su psicología, su visión, su perspectiva, eran radicalmente diferentes a las nuestras. Todos serían inmortales. Dueños del universo para siempre. Libres. Fecundos. Dioses. Nosotros sólo esperábamos. Los veríamos crecer, hacerse hermosos, continuar jóvenes y prepararse para la segunda inyección, una ceremonia – que nosotros ya no veríamos – cuyo carácter religioso se haría evidente. Ellos no se encontrarían jamás con Dios.

Thinking about how we formed the future tense and looking at the examples above, how do you think we will form the conditional?

5 The Conditional We use the conditional to talk about things we would/could do. In English: I would like to go to a place where I could rest a lot. This is why in Spanish we have no direct translation for “would.” Instead it’s a separate conjugation.

6 The Conditional The Conditional is very similar to Future Tense.
Leave the verb in infinitive. There is only one set of endings for all verbs: ía - íamos ías ía - ían

7 The Conditional There are irregulars, but they are the same ones we had in Future Tense. They will be exactly the same, but with Conditional endings: Poder – Podr Saber – Sabr Haber – Habr Querer - Querr Poner – Pondr Salir – Saldr Venir – Vendr Tener – Tendr Decir – Dir Hacer - Har

8 The Conditional We use the Conditional to express:
What would happen if certain conditions were met. (Todos serían inmortales.) A past context to talk about an event that was anticipated for the future. (Los veríamos crecer, hacerse hermosos, continuar jóvenes y prepararse para la segunda inyección, una ceremonia – que nosotros ya no veríamos – cuyo carácter religioso se haría evidente.)

9 Tu amigo le faltó respeto a un anciano en la calle.

10 No estudiaste para un examen importante.
The Conditional ¿Qué harías? No estudiaste para un examen importante.

11 The Conditional ¿Qué harías? Dejaste tu cel en casa (y no te dabas cuenta hasta llegar a la escuela).

12 The Conditional We use the Conditional to express:
Hypothetical situations. (Si yo tuviera el dinero, te lo daría. – If I had the money I would give it to you.) To form these you’ll use a “Si” clause (Si means “if” in this case) with the imperfect subjunctive, and the conditional in the second clause. Si + imperfect subjunctive, + conditional

17 The Conditional Perfect
All of the PERFECT tenses start with haber: In the PRESENT perfect we conjugate haber in the PRESENT. In the PLUPERFECT (past perfect) we conjugate haber in the IMPERFECT (past tense). In the PRESENT perfect SUBJUNCTIVE and PLUPERFECT SUBJUNCTIVE we conjugate haber in the PRESENT SUBJUNCTIVE and IMPERFECT SUBJUNCTIVE. In the FUTURE perfect we conjugate haber in the FUTURE…

19 This part will be COMPLETELY IDENTICAL to all other perfect tenses.
The Conditional Perfect Just like ALL other perfect tenses, the second verb will just end in –ado/-ido OR you’ll use an irregular participle (dicho, puesto, vuelto, escrito, etc.) This part will be COMPLETELY IDENTICAL to all other perfect tenses.
